Here are some basic fire prevention tips that may come in handy. Changing the batteries in smoke detectors when you change your clocks for Daylight Savings is a good habit to get into. Also, if you have wood stoves or fireplaces checking the chimney and having it cleaned is very important to prevent the buildup of creosote. For those that use space heaters make sure to keep at least a three foot radius around the heater free of anything flammable. Holiday decoration is fun, but using battery powered lights rather than candles in Jack 0’Lanterns and checking Christmas lights before using them is important in fire prevention.
